OUTLIER
About This Spot
Stepping into OUTLIER feels like discovering a quietly spirited corner of Glasgow where the morning gently stretches into midday and conversations hum alongside the aroma of freshly baked bread. This is not just a place for brunch; it’s a thoughtful gathering spot where the pace encourages lingering over coffee and the comforting warmth of the surroundings invites you to settle in.
The atmosphere at OUTLIER strikes a delicate balance between approachable and refined. The space buzzes softly with a young, lively crowd, yet there’s an easy inclusiveness that makes anyone feel at home—whether you’re here for a quick espresso or a weekend catch-up. The menu reflects this considered mood, offering daily baked pastries and thoughtfully crafted dishes that celebrate both tradition and a touch of creativity. Imagine biting into a perfectly flaky almond croissant or dipping into the creamy warmth of a flat white, each element crafted to complement the next. Seasonal breads and inventive toasties appear alongside unexpected delights like cardamom-spiced custard buns or rich, smoky sandwiches that reward curiosity.

Great spot with a truly delicious food. The waiters were not super friendly but the food makes up for it. So my 5 out of 5 goes to the chefs, and my 3 out of 5 goes to the waiters :) also, prices are really reasonable

I can confidently say this was the BEST breakfast experience I had during my whole trip to Scotland. From the moment I walked in, the place had such a warm, welcoming vibe. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food… absolutely unforgettable! Every bite was perfectly fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The portions were generous, and the coffee was just how I like it (which is rare!). Whether you’re starting a long day of exploring or just looking for a cozy, satisfying morning meal, this spot is a must-visit. Truly a highlight of my trip! Sal & Mo

Cracking cafe in the east of the city centre. The beef shin, fennel jam and cheese toastie was off the scale excellent. The scrambled egg on sourdough was also brilliant. The cafe has a very good atmosphere with a youngish customer base. Having said that, not being a youngster myself, I felt perfectly at home there. Very reasonably priced too. The service was very friendly while not 100% attentive. Definitely worth a visit and I plan on returning.

I came here for brunch as recommended on reddit, and I'm so glad I did. Party of 2, around 12pm, no reservation, just waited 5 minutes for our preferred table. The variety of meals, baked goods, and drinks was perfectly arranged (varied enough to make sure there is something for everyone, but limited enough to make sure that everything is fresh). After much reflection we ordered the mushroom sandwich, quince porridge, and cardamom custard bun. We waited for quite a bit for our order, I think 30 minutes. Each order tasted absolutely sublime. The sandwich was insanely flavourful, and totally unique. The porridge was equally unique and definitely the most delicious porridge I have ever eaten (I could literally eat this as a dessert). The bun was so delicately flavoured and such a light texture. The portion sizes were also perfect (I felt full for the rest of the whole day). The food is clearly mastered here. The vibe of the interior is equally enjoyable; warm and tasteful lighting, decor, and music. Service was fine, not particularly welcoming. Total around £25, which to me was worth it. Would love to come back here in the future to try other pastries. (And just a suggestion, without going into more detail, I think the cooks should wear hair nets.)

Finally I was able to try something in this place! In the past, every time I came here, desserts I wanted to try were sold out. It’s a busy place, and I can see why. They have different pastries/desserts every day, and there are vegan options too. I had a beef toastie and a burnt cheese cake and both were super delicious! If you wanna feel like you are abroad - I highly recommend this place.

We loved it here!! The food was INCREDIBLE. We each got something different: soup, scrambled eggs on toasts, porridge. All the food and drinks were reasonably priced + the coffee was delicious! The atmosphere was great as well and the staff were lovely. We’d easily come back!
